On July 10 the Rangers signed Vladmir Denisov.The terms were not disclosed.This could help the Rangers, because Denisov is a physical defenseman, which is something the Rangers are lacking.The 24-year-old Denisov recently completed his first season in North America, splitting the campaign between Lake Erie of the American Hockey League and Johnstown of the ECHL. He recorded two goals, eight points and 111 penalty minutes in 66 games with the Monsters and added two assists and 26 penalty minutes in five contests with the Chiefs.
A native of Belarus, the 5-11, 207-pound Denisov spent 2006-07 with Lada Togliatti of the Russian Super League, registering three assists and 76 penalty minutes in 39 games.
